View an order’s referrer

The referrer of an order is the method your customer used to arrive at your store before making a purchase. Knowing the referrer of the order allows you to evaluate the effectiveness of each traffic source and marketing campaign on your orders.

Step by Step Tutorial



From your ShopBase admin site, go to Orders > All Orders. Click on the order you want to view referrer.


In Conversion summary section, you can find information such as:

The number of orders that this customer has placed on your store.
The channel that brought customers to your store.
The total number of sessions from the first visit to the order placement.


Click View details to view more detailed information regarding your order's conversion. In the pop-up, you can view the following information:

Total sessions: Total number of sessions the customer had on your store from their previous purchase to this order placement.
Days to conversions: The number of days from the first visit (after their previous purchase) to this order placement
1st session from...: The channel that brought customers to your store to place this order.
Returned ... time(s): The number of time the customer had returned to your store (excluding the 2 sessions of first visit after their previous purchase and this order placement).
Converted after...: The channel that this order was converted from.


You can click on View full session in 1st session from... and Converted after... to view the following information:

The exact date and time of the session.
Source identifier: The channel that brought customers to your store.
Referring site: The URL that brought customers to your store.
First page visited: The first page customers visited before purchasing this order.

You can also view details of UTM Parameters:

Source: The value of utm_source in URL corresponding to the first page customers visited.
Medium: The value of utm_medium in URL corresponding to the first page customers visited.
Campaign: The value of utm_campaign in URL corresponding to the first page customers visited.
Term: The value of utm_term in URL corresponding to the first page customers visited.
Content: The value of utm_content in URL corresponding to the first page customers visited.
