A. Add variants

You can create up to 1000 variants for a product.

Each product can have up to 3 options. The options can be different from product to product. For example, one product can use size, color, and style, and another product can use weight, finish, and material.

Add variants while you're creating a product

If you're in the process of creating a product, you can add its variants at the same time.

Walkthrough

In the Variants section of the Add product page, click Add variant.

Enter a name for the option, such as Size, in Option name. Customers will see this name.

In Option values, enter each option value followed by a comma, such as Small, Medium, Large. Customers will see these option values when they are choosing a variant. When you enter a comma, the option values appear as tags:

If your variants differ in more than one way, then click Add another option. You can have up to 3 options for each product.

As you add the product options, a list of variants appears with the heading Modify the variants to be created. Uncheck the boxes next to any combination of options that you don't sell. You can also add prices, SKUs, and barcodes for individual variants, or use the defaults based on the product details:

Click** Save changes**.

B: Add variants to an existing product

If you've already created a product, you can add variants to it.

Walkthrough:

From your ShopBase admin, go to Products.

Click the name of the product.

In the Variants section, click Add variant.

Enter the variant information in the fields. If you enter a new option value in the Options section, then it will be created as an option value for that product.

Click Save changes.

C. Add a variant by duplicating an existing variant

You can duplicate a variant to save time when adding similar variants, rather than entering the same details again. The duplicate variant has the same details as the original variant.

Before you can save a duplicated variant, you need to edit at least one of its option values. You can't save an exact duplicate.

Walkthrough

From your Shopify admin, go to Products.

Click the name of the product that requires another variant.

In the Variants section, click Edit next to a similar variant to open its details.

Click Duplicate.

Edit at least one option value to create a unique variant. You can add a new option value, or add one that is already in use for the product variants.

Click Save changes

E. Change the display order of options

When your customers are viewing your products, they see variant options in a particular order. You can change the display order on the product details page.

Walkthrough:

From your ShopBase admin, go to Products.

Click the name of the product whose options you want to re-order.

In the Variants section of the product details page, click Reorder variants:

In the Reorder variants and options dialog, click and drag an option name to move it to a different position:

When a customer is on the product page, they will see the options for this product in the order that you set.

After you have the options in the order that you want, you can change the display order of the option values. Click and drag an option value to move it to a different position:

When a customer is on the product page, they will see the option values for each option in the order that you set.

Click Save.

F. Edit a product's options

You can add, remove, or edit options and option values from the product details page.

Walkthrough:

From your ShopBase admin, go to Products.

Click the name of the product that you want to edit.

In the Variants section, click Edit options. Make any edits that you need:

To add a new option, click Add another option and enter the option name and a default option value. The default option value will be applied to all the existing variants. You can have a maximum of three options for a product.
To change an option name, click it and enter the new name.
To delete an option value, click the x beside it. Any variants with that option value will also be deleted.
To delete an option, remove all but one of the option values, then click the trash can icon beside the option. When there is only one option, you can't remove it by editing the options. If you want to sell a product without any variants, then you need to delete all the variants. (link)

G. Delete a variant

When you delete a variant, it is permanently removed.

If you don't want to sell a product with variants anymore, then you need to delete all of its variants, including the default. Otherwise, the drop-down menu to select a variant will still be shown to your customers. To delete multiple variants at once, use a bulk action.

Walkthrough:

From your ShopBase admin, go to Products.

Click the product with the variant that you want to delete.

Under Variants, click the trash icon next to the variant

Click Delete.
