Set up international domains for your store
In the world of e-commerce, establishing international domains for your store is crucial to cater to a diverse global audience. This article aims to guide to set up international domains for your store.
Go to Settings > Global Markets. Click Domains.
Here you can choose to use Primary domain only or Subfolders.
Primary domain only: Your primary domain is the URL that is displayed in the address bar while customers browse your online store. If you choose the primary domain, visitors from different countries will access your website with the same URL for every language and currency you set up.
Subfolders: Subfolders are subdirectories or paths within your primary domain, which is the domain name that is displayed in the address bar while customers browse your online store.
The subfolders format is: domain.onshopbase.com/language_code-location_code.
Each language is mapped with 1 language code (using ISO 639-1: two-letter codes)
Each country is mapped with 1 location code (using ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 – two-letter country codes)
For example: Your store's primary domain is yourname.onshopbase.com, then your subfolder for language English and location Germany is yourname.onshopbase.com/en-de
The subfolders will change based on the country and language of visitors.
When you unpublish a language or a market, the subfolder URL for that language and location will be invalid.
