Klaviyo is an email marketing platform created for online businesses - with powerful SMS and email marketing automation. Setting up Klaviyo for your store helps you to seamlessly run your email marketing campaigns. This article will show you how to create your Klaviyo email templates.

A. Add a new email template

Log in to your Klaviyo account.

In your Klaviyo main menu, go to Email Templates. Then, click Create Template.



Currently, Klaviyo simultaneously supports 2 template editor versions: New editor and Classic editor. Please check out Klaviyo's guide to understand more about the differences between them and select the version you want.


If you use the New editor, you can start designing your template right away.


If you use the Classic editor, select a template to start. You can choose a Basic or Themed template, use one of your existing templates as a starting point, or import a custom HTML template.


Enter a name for your template and click Create Template.


Select your desired editor and start your design.

B. Save an email as a template

If you are working with either a draft campaign email or a flow email, you can save this email as a template.

Save an email template from an email campaign

Log in to your Klaviyo account.

In your Klaviyo main menu, go to Campaigns and select the campaign containing your desired email.


In Campaign edit page, switch to Content step.


In Campaign content section, click on the dropdown menu button next to Edit Email and select Save as Template.


Enter a name and click Save as Template.



Save an email template from an automated flow

Log in to your Klaviyo account.

In your Klaviyo main menu, go to Flows. Then, select the flows containing your desired email.


In Flow edit page, select the email you want to save as template.

Click Edit in the left menu.


In Email Preview section, click on the dropdown menu button next to Edit Email and select Save as Template.


Enter a name and click Save as Template.



C. Add dynamic variables to your email template

Klaviyo provides template variables that you may use to customize the message subject lines and content. The most commonly used variables are personalization variables, which allow you to dynamically include information about your recipients.
