To minimize the risk of cart abandonment and increase the conversion rate, thus improve the number of orders completed, ShopBase merchants can use our built-in recovery emails and send up to 3 emails to each abandoned checkout on their store.

A. Set up abandoned checkout emails

From your ShopBase admin, go to Settings > Checkout > Abandoned checkouts email. Select Automatically send abandoned checkout emails.
In the Set up emails to send section, tick the box before email(s) that you want to send. Set up the wait period and content of the emails. When customizing the email content, you can Send test email or Preview to check your work.

Sending time of subsequent emails must be longer than sending time of previous ones. For example, if First Email is set to send after 30 minutes, Second Email can't be sent sooner than 30 minutes.

B. Add a discount code in email templates

From ShopBase Admin >> Setting >> Notifications >> Abandoned checkouts email - First email if you decide to add promo code to the first email. You will be directed to Email Editor page.

At the discount code section, click Select discount code to choose the existing code on your store, or quickly add a new code.

When a discount code is selected, the discount code can be added to the email template with following variables:
{{ .discount.code }} : shows your discount code
{{ .discount.value }} : shows the value of the discount code

On average, about 7 out of 10 carts have been abandoned by the customers during their checkout process. It might present a challenge to the merchants, whether they are newcomers or not.

When setting up your emails, it is important to pay attention to the following:

D. Abandoned checkout email timeline

When you finish your setup, there will be a Timeline section in each abandoned checkout. You can see the status of your email, cancel your scheduled email, and get the recovery links (to manually send it out yourself) here.
