Klaviyo is a powerful SMS and email marketing automation platform created for online businesses. Setting up Klaviyo for your store helps you to seamlessly run your email marketing campaigns. This article will show you how to manage Klaviyo email campaigns.

A. Understand Klaviyo campaigns

A campaign is manually created and scheduled to send to a target list that you build in advance. For example, monthly emails for a newsletter list or a flash sale announcement sent to existing customers via text.

B. Build an email campaign

Log in to your Klaviyo account.

In your Klaviyo main menu, go to Campaigns > Create Campaign > Email > Create Campaign.


In Recipients step, fill in all necessary fields: Name, Tags, Send to, Don’t send to, Skip recently emailed profiles, Tracking.


You can enable Include tracking parameters in Tracking section to automatically append UTM parameters to your campaign links. When this setting is on, links are tagged in accordance with your account's default UTM tracking settings. Please refer to this article to learn more about UTM settings on Klaviyo.

When you are ready, select Continue to content.

In Content step, enter the Subject line, Sender name, and Sender email address. You can also add a different reply-to email address if you would like responses to go to a different inbox (for example, if you want your Klaviyo email to come from a personal email but responses to go to a support inbox).


In How would you like to design your email, select a type to design the email content:

Drag and Drop: This type allows you to use the email editor, which optimizes your email for mobile and makes it simple to design complex email layouts.
Text Only: If you'd like to send a text-only email, this is the option you're looking for. This is a good choice for sending an email that looks like it came directly from you rather than your organization.
HTML: Select this option if you are importing your own HTML email template or if you wish to code an HTML template from scratch.



If Drag and Drop is selected, you will need to choose an email template to start. Then you will be directed to the editor page to start the design. Please check out Klaviyo's guide on how to use the Drag and Drop editor for more information.
Design your content.

In case you want to test different subject lines and content to refine your messaging and optimize your send times, select Create A/B Test. Please refer to this article from Klaviyo for more information on this feature.



Click Save Content > Continue to Review.

In Review step, double check all your settings, then click Schedule or Send.


Set up your schedule time to send, then select Schedule or Send now.



C. Edit an email campaign

Log in to your Klaviyo account.

In your Klaviyo main menu, go to Campaigns. Select the campaign you want to edit, then follow the instructions in part B to finish the update.

You can edit both scheduled and draft campaigns, but not sent campaigns.
If the campaign is scheduled to send in 15 minutes or less, you must reschedule the campaign for a later time before you are able to edit it.

D. Reschedule an email campaign

Log in to your Klaviyo account.

In your Klaviyo main menu, go to Campaigns.

Click the three vertical dots on the right-hand side of the campaign you want to schedule, then select Reschedule.


Campaigns can only be rescheduled if they are scheduled for more than 15 minutes from the current time.
You cannot update the timezone when rescheduling campaigns.
Choose the new date and time. Then, click Schedule to save.



E. Cancel a scheduled/sending email

When you schedule a campaign in advance, you can cancel your campaign anytime before it is sent or while it is in the middle of being sent. Canceling a scheduled campaign allows you to make changes to the campaign, such as updating the list it's going to.

Log in to your Klaviyo account.

In your Klaviyo main menu, go to Campaigns.

Click the three vertical dots on the right-hand side of the campaign you want to schedule, then select Cancel Send.


For large campaigns, the scheduling process itself may take some time. The Cancel Send button will appear both while scheduling is still in progress, as well as after scheduling completes.

Confirm to finish the cancellation.

When you cancel a sending campaign, Klaviyo cannot roll back emails that have already been delivered. The cancellation action will only ensure that any further emails still queued for sending are immediately canceled. The number of emails from your campaign that end up getting delivered will depend on how far along our sending process is when you click to cancel.
Available statistics for a campaign that is partially sent is available in the overview for that campaign. In this report, you will also see the date the campaign was scheduled and the cancellation date.
