When customers visit a product page on your online store, the first available variant is automatically selected by default, which can help shorten the buying process.
This feature can also be disabled in case you want your customers to manually select a variant before making a purchase of the product. This will ensure that your customers have time to make and recheck their orders carefully and lower claim rates due to incorrect product selection.

This setting is also applied for products in Boost Upsell offers (including pre-purchase, in-cart, and post-purchase offers, excluding bundles).


In case you want to exclude more than one option from automatic selection, separate each option name with a comma.
In order for this setting to be applied, the option name entered must exactly match the option name of the product.
This settings is not applied for products in Boost Upsell offers.

For example, if a product has both color (black and white) and size (small, medium, large) variants, you can set it up so that the first color variant is automatically selected when customers click on the product page, but the size variants are not. Your customers will need to select a size in order to checkout successfully. To set up, in Default variant selection, select Automatically choose the first variant in the variant list as the default selection, tick Exclude some options from auto selection and enter Size in the box.
