Choose suitable Google product categories for your product feeds
More and more people are using Google to find their desired products. To utilize product data sent to Google Merchant center, you should choose suitable Google Product categories for your product feeds, in order to attract more viewers and conversions.
You should create your product feeds first, kindly follow the instructions on how to create product feeds in this article.
The product categories also help you organize better and set price effectively for Shopping campaign. When creating the product feed, you can select the category as in the image below:
Categories chosen must match each of your products. For example:
For clothing such as T-shirt, Shirt, or Sweater, you should choose Category Apparel & Accessories.
Please note that this category Apparel & Accessories requires complete details of Color and Size. In case this information is missed, you should fill in yourself, or create Default Color and Default Size for Product feeds.
For blankets or quilts, you should choose Category Home & Garden > Lawn & Garden > Outdoor Living > Outdoor Blankets.
For phone cases, you should choose Category Electronics > Communications > Telephony > Mobile Phone Accessories > Mobile Phone Cases.
For mugs, you should choose Category Home & Garden > Kitchen & Dining > Tableware > Drinkware > Mugs.
For 2D and 3D T-shirts, tank-tops, you should choose Apparel & Accessories > Clothing > Shirts & Tops.
For rugs, you should choose Home & Garden > Decor > Rugs.
For carpets, you should choose Hardware > Building Materials > Flooring & Carpet.
For Painting Canvas, you should choose Arts & Entertainment > Hobbies & Creative Arts > Arts & Crafts > Art & Crafting Materials > Textiles > Crafting Canvas > Painting Canvas.
For Plastic Canvas, you should choose Arts & Entertainment > Hobbies & Creative Arts > Arts & Crafts > Art & Crafting Materials > Textiles > Crafting Canvas > Plastic Canvas.
