Set up PayPal Pro with 3-D secure

3-D Secure is an XML-based protocol designed to be an additional security layer for online credit and debit card transactions. 3-D Secure may be required by some acquirers. In this article, we will show you how to set up 3-D Secure on your PayPal Pro gateway.

A. Set up Cardinal account

To activate 3-D Secure on your PayPal Pro gateway, you must have a Cardinal account.

Go to this link to register a Cardinal account.
Fill your Business Information to get the account.

On the Shopping Cart part, you must choose the Custom Built Cart option:

Submit the registration.

B. Get the credentials

After your account is approved, PayPal will send you an email with all credentials via email. Check the Step 4:

If you only use PayPal Pro on test mode, choose the Test credentials. Otherwise, choose Production credentials to use for real purchases.

C. Activate Paypal Pro with 3-D Secure

From your ShopBase admin, go to Settings > Payment Providers.

Click Choose third-party provider in Accept credit cards section

In the Third-party payment providers page, choose PayPal Pro

Enter your merchant info from step B above.

Use Test mode if you just want to test the store. You can turn on 3D secure for this payment gateway.

Select 3D secure payment, enter the API credentials you get from step B. You will need: API Key, API ID and Org Unit ID.

Click Add account to finish.

That's all and you are now ready to receive customers' purchases via PayPal Pro with 3-D Secure.

You can only connect to payment gateways when you have chosen a subscription plan.
