Set up card shield for your payment gateway on ShopBase
In some cases, you may prefer to set up a separate domain for your payment gateway rather than using the store's primary domain. As a result, ShopBase is now introducing the new card shield feature, which allows you to use a proxy domain to hide your store's primary domain from the payment gateway. In this article, we will show you how to set up and utilize this feature.
A. Set up a domain as a card shield
B. Frequently asked questions
From your ShopBase admin, go to Settings > Payment providers.

In Card shield for your payment gateway, click Add a domain to select a proxy domain.

In the dialog, click the Domain dropdown to select your domain. This domain must meet the following requirements:
The domain is being connected to the ShopBase store you are logging into.
The domain is not your current primary domain.

Click Save. In the Payment providers page, the proxy domain that have been successfully set up will have the Active status. Once the proxy domain is configured, your primary domain will be hidden from your payment gateway and replaced by the proxy domain.

Only 1 domain can be activated as the proxy domain at a time.
If no available domain in your store meet the requirements, you can click on Connect to your domain to connect an additional domain for your store. Please refer to this article on how to add a domain to ShopBase.

How many domains must a store have in order to use this feature?
A store must have at least 2 connected domains, including 1 primary domain, and 1 additional domain to be set up as a proxy domain.
Must the proxy domain be a ShopBase-managed domain (domain that is directly bought from ShopBase)?
No, you can purchase the proxy domain from anywhere as long as it is connected to the ShopBase store that requires card shield.
Is the proxy domain redirected to the primary domain?
No, the proxy domain is not redirected to the primary domain.
Which domain will be displayed in the payment gateway's order information section after enabling card shield? Is it the proxy domain or the primary domain of the store?
Only the proxy domain will be displayed in the payment gateway's order information section.
Can I use the same domain address as the primary domain of one ShopBase store (store 1) and the proxy domain of another ShopBase store (store 2) at the same time?
In this case you should set up a sub-domain as the proxy domain of the second store. For example, if the domain in the format www.paymentdomain.com is added as the primary domain of store 1, you can set up the domain in the format pay.paymentdomain.com (in which pay is a sub domain of the www.paymentdomain.com domain. You can use any keyword as the subdomain as needed) as the proxy domain of the store 2.
Can I use the same proxy domain for multiple stores (each with a different primary domain) that use the same PayPal payment provider?
You cannot use the same proxy domain for multiple stores. However, you can set up different sub-domains such as pay1.paymentdomain.com, pay2.paymentdomain.com, etc. for each of your stores. Your PayPal will not be affected by this setup.
